JOB OBJECTIVE:
Auburn Career Center is seeking a high skilled and motivated professional for the position of Dental Assistant Technician Instructor. Instruct high school students in Dental Assistant and related activities to prepare them for careers and/or college. Help students make appropriate choices. Encourages parental involvement. Provide leadership for student youth organizations, SkillsUSA and other activities as necessary and assigned.
Introduce students to the Dental Assistant Technician pathways by applying fundamental principles of communication, leadership, technology and management in the medical office setting. Apply the knowledge of radiation physics, infection prevention and quality control standards. Apply the knowledge of head and neck anatomy with a focus on the oral cavity and teeth. Learn the chemical and physical properties of dental materials, their indications for use, and proper manipulation of the materials. Apply the principles of dental procedures and comprehensive dental care; infection control in dentistry; and dental specialties including radiology and laboratory procedures. Perform chair-side assisting techniques to include instrument sterilization, fluoride applications, dietary analysis and assisting physician. Emphasis on understanding terminology, instruments and equipment, and patient communication.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidate must have a valid Ohio Department of Education Licensure or ability to obtain with teaching field code CTWD070101 (Dental Assisting)
- Minimum of 5 years as a Dental Assistant.
- Dental Assisting diploma required.
- Radiology License required.
- Certified/Registered Dental Assistant preferred
- Effective organizational, planning and project management skills.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement program options, auxiliary services, and curricular materials that support the diverse learning needs of students.
- Must be able to communicate well and work collaboratively.
- Wednesday: 8 am to 5 pm
- Thursday: 11 am to 7 pm
