Type of Practice:
Community Health Center providing primary care and enabling services.
Scheduled work week is approximately 40 hours, including about 36 clinical
appointment hours each week. No inpatient responsibilities are required. A two-year employment contract
with opportunity for renewal is available to the qualified candidate.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 5 pm; Wednesday clinic
operates 8:30 am – 7:00 pm. Some evening rotation is required.
After hours call coverage is shared on a rotating basis. Our providers historically receive
few after-hours calls.
Service Area Size:
Service area includes the City of Lorain in Lorain County with approximately 68,000
residents. Located on Lake Erie 30 miles west of Cleveland, Lorain is a manufacturing town with a
culturally-diverse population. Lorain County Health & Dentistry (LCH&D) has two sites – the main site is in
downtown Lorain where pediatrics, Ob/Gyn and the dental clinic are located. The second, smaller site is
dedicated to adult medicine, and is located four miles away in a largely Latino neighborhood.
The dental clinic is state-of-the-art with electronic records (Dentrix) and digital
radiography. Specialists in the community accept LCH&D referrals, some only charging income-based fees.
Base salary is competitive. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid
time off, life insurance and short and long-term disability; 401k with 100% company match up to 4% after
one year, plus CME and membership allowance.
Applicant may be eligible for significant state or federal loan repayment. Health Center
will provide assistance to eligible applicants. LCH&D has had several physicians and dentists receive either
Ohio (ODH) or National Health Service Corp loan repayment assistance.
Two years of general dentistry experience is preferred. A desire to work in a
community health center and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes is required. Interpersonal
skills that contribute to a productive team are essential. Spanish language skills are a plus.
